Combative Patient At Westchester Residence For Disabled People Hospitalized: Police

A resident of a Northern Westchester home for intellectually and developmentally disabled people was hospitalized after injuring staff members, police said.

The incident happened on Monday evening, Jan. 22, when a resident at Opengate Inc., a residence for intellectually and developmentally disabled people in Somers at 29 Warren St., became combative, according to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks. 

State troopers soon responded to the residence and transported the patient to Putnam Hospital without further incident. 

Staff members suffered minor injuries in the incident but were not hospitalized, Hicks said.
